Rolex 16660 spider dial from 1982. The dial is in flawless condition with fantastic patina on the markers and hands. The case in excellent vintage condition and has been polished in the past. The 3035 movement is running strong and keeping excellent time. It was serviced in the last year per the original owner. It comes with its original box and booklets.
the 16660 was the shortest production run of sea-dwellers made by rolex beginning in 1978 and ending in around 1989. It was also the first rolex watch to feature a sapphire crystal. Because of this and its larger case, Rolex pushed the envelope with increased water resistance of 4,000 feet/1,220 meters which was twice as deep as its predecessor the 1665 was able to go. Because of this the 16660 also had an increased size helium release valve. The 16660 also contains the caliber 3035, which is a faster beat movement than the caliber 1575 which powered the 1665. The 16660 was also offered in two dial types. The earlier Matt version which featured large painted indexes as well as the later version which contained white gold surround markers. On occasion the later dials exhibited a spider effect as the one we have featured here.
