The Rolex 16760, also known as the Rolex GMT-Master II "Fat Lady" or "Sophia Loren," is an iconic watch model with an interesting history. Introduced in 1983, the 16760 was the first GMT-Master II model in Rolex's lineup, featuring several notable advancements and design changes.
The primary innovation of the Rolex 16760 was its introduction of an independently adjustable 24-hour hand, which allowed the wearer to track a second time zone. This feature was particularly useful for pilots and frequent travelers who needed to keep track of different time zones simultaneously. The addition of the independently adjustable 24-hour hand made the 16760 a true GMT watch, unlike its predecessor, the GMT-Master, which required rotating the bezel to track the second time zone.
