Straight from the family of the original owner, Up for grabs is a fantastic Rolex 1680 RED MK4 dial Submariner from 1972. The dial and hands match well and are visually flawless with nicely patina'd luminous markers. The case is in excellent vintage condition and has not been polished showing its original chamfers. The insert is a kissing40 and is original to the watch as is the dated C&I Rolex rivet band. Reference and serial are crisp between the lugs and the caseback has a personal engraving. The movement winds smoothly and the watch is keeping excellent time however the last service is unknown. The watch is sold with it original boxes and books and expired guarantee certificate.
Notes:
The "MARK IV" was the first “feet first” depth rated dial to be released by Rolex and was produced for about 2 years 1971-1972. MK4 dials all feature the red ‘SUBMARINER’ printed on top of white lettering along with open sixes in the depth rating.
