Model Notes:
The Rolex 16800 with a matte dial is a vintage model from the Rolex Submariner collection. The Submariner 16800 was produced from the late 1970s to the early 1980s and is highly sought after by collectors.
The "matt dial" refers to the type of dial finish on the watch. Instead of a glossy or shiny dial, the 16800 features a matte or non-reflective dial, which was a characteristic of Rolex Submariners produced during that era. This matte dial gives the watch a unique and vintage aesthetic.
The Rolex Submariner 16800 is known for its robust construction and functionality. It has a stainless steel case and bracelet, and it was the first Submariner model to feature a sapphire crystal, replacing the previous acrylic crystal. It also introduced the quick-set date function to the Submariner line, allowing for easier adjustment of the date display.
The movement inside the Rolex 16800 is the Caliber 3035, a self-winding mechanical movement that provides accurate timekeeping and a power reserve of approximately 48 hours.
As the 16800 with a matte dial is a vintage model, its availability and pricing can vary depending on factors such as its condition, rarity, and the overall demand in the market. If you're interested in purchasing one, it's recommended to consult with reputable watch dealers or collectors who specialize in vintage Rolex timepieces.
This particular one we are selling here is in excellent original condition. The Dial appears to be flawless with a very nice heavy cream color lume with nicely matching hands. The Case is thick and even with sharp prominent bevels bearing clear serial and reference numbers between the lugs. The insert has aged to a charcoal grey and has some various areas of age to it. The bracelet is original and fully linked with some stretch commensurate with age. The movement is timed and running +/- 7 seconds per day currently so probably doesn't need an insert
